The FaceBook Egotists

September 26, 2008

A team of researchers from the University of Georgia has come to a conclusion that will undoubtedly turn the tech world on its side (ha): if you use Facebook to promote your lovely self, it shows through. Narcissists, or those psychologically defined as “excessively egotistical,” will inflate their profiles on the social network with more photos and massive friends lists.

Did we not already know that that was the case?  Unless half the contacts/friends on my facebook account really are meeting 10 – 20 new people who are truly worth counting as friends each week…; then it’s always been an ego massaging exercise.

Metacafe

August 27, 2008

Got an email through from metacafe letting me know that their ‘review’ process is now public.

Basically it simply means that you can now review the long list of videos that are there for review and decide if the website should display them for proper public viewing.  Interesting idea, but after having a quick look through the list of videos yet to be approved it seems like it is basically asking you to watch a load of tosh.

I thought at first that it might be a good way to spot interesting virals but nope.  Too much crap over substance.  I should have realised that from the outset.

For those of you who don’t know, metacafe is a youtube clone that supports some levels of mature content.
